“I’ve always been fascinated with the style of Vincent Van Gogh. I love his wild, loose brush strokes that convey so much motion. We’ve all been inspired by his painting Starry Night, and I wanted to do a similar sort of midnight sky in this oil painting of the three wise men heading to Bethlehem under a full moon. As I held the brushes in my teeth, repetitively daubing the paint on the canvas, I must have looked like a chicken pecking for grain! Every once in a while, I had to turn the canvas to get a new angle. The result? A very wild and windy night sky filled with color and excitement. How much more exciting was the real journey to see the newborn King!”
Scripture Reference: Matthew 2:1 – “After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem…”
