This trivet was hand-crafted in Uganda by a woman in the Kisa Kya Mukama (God’s Grace) women’s craft group. Made from natural materials such as sisal, banana leaves, and banana fiber, this 12-inch round decorative trivet comes in three designs (each sold separately).
Organized by our Joni and Friends partner organization Sufficiency of Scripture (SOS) Ministries, the Kisa Kya Mukama craft group empowers women, including those living with disability, to provide for themselves and their families.

Twenty-six-year-old Betty holds a banana leaf stalk in her hands, skillfully shredding it into strips, perfect for weaving. Like other members of the God’s Grace women’s craft group organized by our Joni and Friends partners in Uganda, Betty lives with a disability.
The fourth of eleven siblings, Betty has grown up surrounded by love, which has seen her through a difficult journey with epilepsy. Thankfully, with the help of medication, Betty’s seizures have been reduced, which allows her to attend church and create handcrafts to help support her family.
Together Betty and her friends pray, share the Gospel, and learn from one another—not only about making beautiful handmade goods, but about building a better future through faith, creativity, and hard work. Using materials such as banana fiber, banana leaves, sisal, and natural dyes, these women transform simple, locally sourced resources into works of art.
Your purchase makes an immediate and lasting difference for families living with disability in East Africa.
