Zoltan’s Perfect Gift

Zoltan and his mom, Gabby, live in the poverty-stricken village of Brasov, Romania. Born with cerebral palsy, Zoltan is unable to move freely, and he has spent most of his life in the shadows of his home.

Gabby takes care of him without any help from friends or family. And although Zoltan is unable to walk or speak, he shares a special bond with his mother. Gabby is his voice, transportation, and help – Zoltan relies on his mother for his every need. But as he grows, his disability weighs heavier on Gabby. It won’t be possible to carry him as he gets older.

So when Zoltan received a wheelchair, his life would never be the same.

With Zoltan’s unique needs, volunteers and physical therapists weren’t sure if they would be able to find the right wheelchair for him. But by the grace of God, not only did they find a wheelchair that suited his needs, but it was the perfect fit for a child just like Zoltan.

Gabby shared, “this wheelchair will change a lot [for us] because now I can take him outside, he can go with me to my mother’s… I can take him to the store… I can take him back to physical therapy.”

Zoltan was given the gift of mobility and the hope of the Gospel. No longer will he be hidden in the shadows of his home. He can go outside to be in the community, and visit his family and friends.

“Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”

2 Corinthians 3:17

The need is great. There are thousands of children just like Zoltan who are confined to their homes, desperately needing community. You can give them the means to go outside and experience freedom for the first time.

This Christmas, give the perfect gift—a wheelchair wrapped in the Gospel.
