My Dream for Joni and Friends

This year, during the 40th anniversary of Joni and Friends, many people have asked me about the future of our ministry and what I hope for. Well, I could say, “Oh, I’d like to add more countries to Wheels for the World, and deliver more wheelchairs and Bibles.” Or I could say, “Let’s have more Family Retreats. Let’s get more interns on campus.”

But when I wheel into our headquarters, the International Disability Center every morning, you know what my hope for the future is? That we keep the main thing, the main thing. Because it’s all about giving the good news of Jesus Christ to people with disabilities and their families. It’s all about sharing the Gospel, the life transforming, life-altering Gospel of the Lord Jesus.

The purpose of those wheelchairs, the purpose of every Family Retreat is so that people can hear about Jesus Christ and how much they need him. So, when I look to the future, I think of this ministry being used by the Lord Jesus to expand his kingdom and bring many more people with disabilities into the Father’s house.

That’s my dream for the future.
