How many is 47? You could say it is 10+10+10+10+7. Or it is two more than 9×5. Or 1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9… +2! You can count to 47 using lots of different ways. But did you know Joni has been counting to 47 using just one way? On July 30, it will be exactly 47 years since Joni broke her neck by diving into shallow water. She has been counting to 47 years one day at a time! Even though it took a long time for Joni to become okay with having a broken neck and not being able to move her arms or legs (that’s called quadriplegia), July is a special time of celebration for her. Would you like to help celebrate as she counts the rest of the days to 47? Learn a few things about quadriplegia and then send Joni a drawing you make using your mouth! You can send it to: Joni and Friends Kids’ Corner, PO Box 3333, Agoura Hills, CA 91376.
