The Unknown Future

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and we can learn a thing or two from Abraham, the Old Testament patriarch. Remember when God said to Abraham, “Leave your country and your people and go to the land I will show you”? And you know what Abraham did, don’t you? He did not delay, but he went right away. But us? Well, all too often, when God tells us to get up and go do something, we shuffle our feet; we rationalize that we’re not quite certain we heard God right. We check the inward call to obey so many times that before you know it, we’ve reasoned away the command to obey God. Are we willing, like Abraham, to exchange the known present for the unknown future, and do it with enthusiasm? Maybe we would if we understood that obedience always means blessing. It’ll cost us, but in the long run, God will bless you. If, concerning obedience, your get up and go has got up and gone somewhere, then today, don’t delay and go get it.

Pearls of Great Price

Joni reminds us that the real gems in life come from God. They are hidden beneath the surface of our circumstances, waiting for us to discover and claim them. Jesus tells us, “The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.” (Matt. 13:45) In this devotional, we find 366 faith building pearls drawn from the depths of God’s word.
