Solid Ground

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and when I was young, my family would head down to Ocean City, Maryland, for a week of summertime beach camping. We girls always wanted to pitch our tent in the sand dunes, but Daddy would tell us no, we’d have to look for solid ground — nowhere near sifting dunes and not too near the ocean — so that our tent would last any summer storm. 

You know, Daddy must have taken a cue from Matthew chapter 7 where it says, “Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house upon a rock. The rain came down, the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall because it had its foundation on the rock.” Today, friend, where are you sinking your tent pegs? Whatever plans you’ve got going, drive them deep into solid ground. For there’s no firmer foundation for your future than the Word of God.
