Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and do you ever feel homesick for heaven? Whenever I get tired of this broken, old sinful world, or even my own rebellious heart, I find I’m often homesick for heaven where there will be no more sin, no more pain, no more tears. But take warning: Charles Spurgeon once said, “Some of you, right now, could not be happy if you were allowed to enter heaven. And I will tell you why: heaven is a spiritual land and you have neglected your spirit.”  Friend, that’s something you don’t want to do! So a word to the wise: get your heart prepared for heaven; get your soul ready today; make obedience a habit. This is what it means to not neglect your spirit. Because it is obedience that will get your heart really resonating with the things above, as well as get your soul happy about going to a place that’s completely holy. When that happens, heavenly homesickness will be an everyday thing.
