The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Our Family Retreats have provided a sanctuary for families struggling with disability—giving them encouragement, physical and spiritual rest, and opportunities to form lasting relationships with others who understand their journey. Testimonies of hope and healing remind us that no one needs to walk this path alone.

Meet the Parker family, a beautiful picture of courage and faith. Natalie, a single mother and registered nurse, is raising four children: Aiden (12), Kylie (10), Jaden (7), and Hannah (3). Three of her children live with significant disabilities, including pediatric acute-onset neuropsychiatric syndrome, autism, ADHD, and developmental delays. Amid personal hardship, Natalie felt God calling her to open her heart and her home through adoption. She often describes her children as a true blessing and sees her nursing skills as a gift from God, equipping her to love and care for children who might otherwise never have a family.

Like so many families living with disability, the Parkers longed for a place where they could experience the love of Jesus without judgment and feel seen, loved, and celebrated! And when they came to Family Retreat, that’s exactly what they found. Natalie describes the experience as life-giving.

Her youngest son, Jaden, already dreams of becoming a buddy at Family Retreat one day, while Jaden practices being a buddy to his siblings at home. These small but powerful moments reflect the lasting impact that love, care, and encouragement can have on every member of the family.
