Your Servant Is Warned

My friend Bob, who’s nearly blind, gets a little irritated when someone has to lead him by the elbow through a crowd. It’s embarrassing to be pushed or pulled this way or that to avoid danger or a high curb. Now, he appreciates being cautioned, and he understands the safety issue, but still, his pride takes a hit. Yet… don’t we respond the same way when God cautions us?

Psalm 19 says, “By [the Word of the Lord] is your servant warned.” Oh, friend, we’ve got so many blind spots; we are spiritually myopic people, you and me. So, thank God for his word that instructs, corrects, cautions, guides and comforts. The Bible is a light that illuminates the way through a crowd of temptations; so, let go of pride and like Bob, let’s be grateful for the guidance.
