Recently I found an old book by a Puritan that had blessed me when I was first injured. I used to turn its pages with a mouth stick held between my teeth. I even drooled on a few pages! I noticed a sentence underlined: “The features of the narrow way are not all smoothness, brightness and greenness; but rather, thorns, briars, dust, and ruggedness – while we are on earth, it’s a race, it’s the battle, the burden, and often, the heavy heart. But the destination? It’s glory, honor, and joy everlasting.”

I smiled when I read that. Because hardship here only makes sense in light of God’s heaven, there. So, if you are having a rough day, push through the thorns and briars and keep pressing onward and upward. After all, you’ve got joy everlasting waiting for you at the finish line.
