Providence That’s Painful
“Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.”
Psalm 139:16
A really striking Scripture is Psalm 139:16. ”All our days were ordained and in his book they were all written.” That word “all” encompasses happy and sad days; even ones that are so horrific, they leave you numb.” So when I consider that terrible day I became a quadriplegic… he planned it. Permitted it. And although his protective hand is ‘always’ safeguarding me from countless dangers, that one day (for a split second) he removed that wise hand thus allowing Providence (as painful as it was) to take place (exactly the way he wrote it down ages ago). So when I broke my neck, yes, it was terrible, but God ‘had’ a purpose: it was the 1.3 billion disabled people in the world who need Christ. And because a soul is far more valuable than walking, I’m out to win them to his side.
