Credentials from Heaven
I’ve been given all kinds of titles in front of my name, including Pastor and Reverend (neither of which I am) and even Dr. (despite the fact that I’ve never been to Bible college and am only a high school graduate!). There was a time I was embarrassed that I had no real scholastic degrees. I felt incompetent and doubted whether my message was worth sharing.
But although I am inadequate in many ways, my competence comes from elsewhere. Second Corinthians 3 says, “By ourselves we are not qualified to claim that anything comes from us. Rather, our credentials come from God.” Perhaps you, too, have experienced self-doubt that has limited your service. If so, remember that in Christ, you have all the competency you need to be used in his kingdom.
