It’s Not Too Late!
For years, I’ve been putting out the call every January and February to ask all the friends of our ministry to participate in a Valentine’s Day gift and card shower for five families in need of a mid-winter boost. We call it Heart for the Disabled. Each year we choose families who are facing extraordinary hardship, and then we invite people to send them words of encouragement. Whether it’s a traditional Valentine card or a handmade drawing, the lines of a beloved hymn, or a verse of Scripture, the idea is to remind these special-needs families that they are not alone.
God has not forgotten them and we get to be his hands and feet in reminding them of his great love.
My co-workers here at the office gather all of the notes, cards—and yes, even the gift cards people send in—and package them together for a Valentine’s Day delivery that these families remember for years to come. It’s not too late for you to join in this simple ministry opportunity! I’ve linked to the list of families we’ve chosen this year below. Choose one or two of the families, or write to them all! We know it will be a welcome blessing come Valentine’s Day!
