No Small Sin
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and I remember a time when a gas station attendant forgot to put my gas cap back on my tank. When I returned for it, he showed me one that wasn’t mine – although I said it was. I drove around with that gas cap for a few days, but boy, I felt guilty. Finally, I went back and returned it. This may not sound like a big deal, but I knew enough to realize how small transgressions can quickly lead to big ones. Hebrews chapter 3 says, “Encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
You know, sin deceives us when it says “Aw, don’t sweat the small stuff; it’s just a little transgression. Come on!” No way! We’re in trouble when we believe that sin isn’t quite as sinful as God says or that we are not quite as bad as we really are. So let me encourage you today to follow the advice from Hebrews chapter three.
