May Peace Bloom
Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada, and of all the flowering things in our yard, I am particularly proud of our two lilac bushes. The desert climate of California doesn’t offer what the cold, hard winters of Minnesota do. For some reason, though, the lilacs are bursting in bloom here, and I can only relate it to several nights of hard frost earlier in the year. And you know what’s true for lilacs is true for people. If we are to grow in the Lord, hard times will come. Psalm 119 says: “O Lord, it is good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn of your decrees.” Today, you might be experiencing the nipping frost of loneliness or the biting cold of persecution. Remember, beautiful things do come out of cold, hard times. It’s not pleasant, the Bible says, but afterward it yields the peaceful fruit – or I should say, the peaceful blossom of righteousness. Going through a hard time? Well today may peace bloom in your life.
