Shine Like Stars

“Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.” 

Daniel 12:3

You’ve heard the expression, “She sings like an angel.” Today’s Scripture, however, is an actual quote from an angel-a mighty heavenly being with a “face like lightning” and “eyes like flaming torches” (Daniel 10:6). He was giving the prophet Daniel a brief glimpse into his future… and ours: “Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever.”

We will shine like stars? But what does that mean? Have you ever stood in the night wind and looked up at a blanket of stars? The blazing brightness of the heavens so captures you that words can hardly express the ache in your heart. In Christ, that glory will one day be yours. The ecstasy that captivates your heart at the sight of a night ablaze with twinkling lights—you will one day enter into that ecstasy. One day, you will put on glory like that, and it will be yours for ever and ever. 

Heavenly Father, I want to live the truth of this verse today—right now. I want to be wise in You, filled with Your thoughts rather than the shallow wisdom of this world. And I want to lead people out of darkness, pain, and confusion into the light of Your righteousness—the life You offer in Your Son, Jesus.
