What Glorifies God

Hi, I’m Joni Eareckson Tada. We say we want to glorify God, but what does that mean? How do we glorify God? Well, we do it verbally when we express our devotion to the Lord, or our delight in his word. And we glorify God when we give to the poor because he cares for the poor. We glorify God when we advocate on behalf of the elderly, we’re glorifying God that way because he’s concerned about the rights of the oppressed, and the welfare of the forgotten. When we show mercy to a friend who has wronged us, we’re glorifying God and his desire to forgive. But it also means not gossiping, going out of your way for a neighbor in need, telling the truth even when it’s hard, and not snapping back when someone hurts you.

In short, glorifying God is living like Jesus, the way he lived when he walked on earth. That’s glorifying God. So join me in it today. It’s a lot of fun. It’s what we were made to do.
