Be Present
Remember times when at a dinner party or a committee meeting or coffee time with coworkers, you’re standing around thinking to yourself, “What am I doing here? I can’t wait to leave these people and get on with other things.” Oh, my goodness. Wait a minute, stop. Because if you trust in a sovereign God who has ordained that you be among these very people, there’s a divine purpose for your presence.
Ephesians 1:11 says, “In him, we were also chosen according to the plan,” get that, “the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.” So, think about it. God may want you at that dinner party to speak his name boldly at the table.
Jim Elliot once said these wise words, listen to this, and I follow them to this day. He said, “Wherever you are, be all there.” Be all there. Live to the hilt every situation that you believe to be the will of God. Be 100% there. Be all there. Because Jesus loves these people that you’re around and you are his way to reach them with his love.
