Wonderfully Made

A close up of little flowers.

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

Psalm 139:14

Years ago, my friend was racing me in my wheelchair across an icy parking lot. It was freezing, and we wanted to reach our warm van. Suddenly, she slipped, and I flew out of my chair and fell face-first onto the asphalt. Blood was everywhere, and when they rushed me to the ER, the doctor said I had a badly broken nose.

“Before I set it,” he offered, “would you like me to change its shape?” What? I had never really liked my nose, but now that I had the chance, could I go through with changing it? I decided, no. It was mine. My nose was a part of me. And that night, I gained a fresh appreciation for Psalm 139:14, “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” From then on, my nose never bothered me. Does something about your body trouble you? Well, put it to rest. Because you are wonderfully made by God!
