A Wheelchair for Ernesto

ErnestoErnesto is eight years old. He lives in Cuba where his parents work hard to take care of him. It is a lot of work because Ernesto isn’t just a kid. He is a kid who must go to the hospital every three days because of the kind of disability he has. But the really hard part? The only way his parents can take him to the hospital is by pushing him in a bed that they put wheels on! His parents are always so tired from the trip back and forth, that they never have the energy to take him anywhere else. Back and forth Ernesto goes to and from the hospital. Again and again and again. But then Ernesto and his family heard about Joni and Friends and Wheels for the World. Ernesto was given a wheelchair that was just perfect for his disability and for the long trips he and his parents make to the hospital. His parents were so happy! They began planning all kinds of other trips they would take with Ernesto. Maybe they could go to a baseball game or to the zoo! This week Joni and Friends is in Cuba again helping kids like Ernesto. Download this Cuba activity sheet to learn more about Cuba and about how you can pray.
