Sometimes although we do our best to plan, things don’t go the way we think they should. This happened one year in Poland when the place our team was fitting wheelchairs became crowded and chaotic. Jakob, who was five, came with his dad for a wheelchair, but when they put him in the wheelchair that was labeled for him, it didn’t work! Our physical therapist wasn’t sure she would be able to find another wheelchair, but she went looking and found a kids’ one tucked behind a bunch of adult-sized wheelchairs. The only problem was, it obviously had been made specifically for another boy’s needs. Could it be made to fit Jakob instead?

The physical therapist didn’t know, but decided it was the only chair that might be made to fit Jakob. After a little bit, the wheelchair was ready and Jakob was lifted into it. It fit! Everyone was so happy. Then someone noticed that God had an even bigger surprise for this boy Jakob. The wheelchair had special stitching on the back to spell out the name “Jake”! When the family learned that Jake is an English nickname for Jakob, they were so amazed! They learned in a powerful way that God knows them and loves them!

Will you pray with us that other kids and families will learn about God’s love during our time in Poland? You can download this sheet for more information, too.
