Bob Brooks, now a retired Sheriff, has given a lifetime to public service. But nine years ago he found a passion that supersedes his success. Wheels for the World is one of the most satisfying things in my life,” says Bob. “I have no mechanical aptitude at all and didn’t know where I would fit in on a Wheels for the World team. But on my very first day, I worked on a wheelchair for a little girl with cerebral palsy. I was on the learning curve – it took us almost five hours to fit her chair! But when we finally finished, she whispered something in her mother’s ear. Her mother turned to me and said, ‘My daughter said to tell you she loves you.’ I’ve been serving ever since. People ask me, ‘How much difference can you really make on a Wheels for the World team?’ My answer is simple: In an hour or two we can enable a child to go to school or an adult to work and support their family – all because of the gift of a wheelchair and mobility. Most importantly, we give them the gift of eternity by giving the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In doing these things, we get far more than we could ever give.” Click to see where you can serve with Wheels for the World!
