Nestor’s Wheelchair Changed His Life
“With God all things are possible.”

Meet Nestor: born in Mexico, Nestor has schizencephaly, a rare congenital brain malformation. He has never been able to walk. Because she couldn’t afford a wheelchair for Nestor, his mother, Cristina, had to carry her son for years. But at 17, Nestor (or Nesty, as his mother calls him) grew too big to carry. Accessing a wheelchair seemed impossible, and so did carrying Nestor everywhere they went.

Without a properly fitted wheelchair, Nestor couldn’t leave home to take part in community or experience the outside world. Thankfully Cristina heard about a Joni and Friends Wheels for the World™ outreach in Guadalajara, Mexico, and managed to bring Nestor.
She saw God’s provision firsthand—and witnessed that nothing is impossible with God.
“If this hadn’t been possible, I wouldn’t have known what to do. It was so nice to be with so many people who are so kind. The way they treated us, their hospitality… everything was so good! This wheelchair will be very helpful. It is part of him now.”

Through Joni and Friends, God changed Nestor’s life—and his mom’s—forever! Nestor’s new seat of dignity gives him a new perspective on life! No wonder Cristina said,

During our Wheels for the World outreaches in Mexico we custom-fit 723 wheelchairs and shared the Gospel with every wheelchair recipient.
497 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior that day!
