Winter Storm

Do you ever get scared when there is a great big snowstorm outside? The wind howls through the trees and around your house. Tree branches scratch against the windows. All that scratching and howling can sound like a big monster is waiting to get you! It can be pretty scary, especially when it is dark outside. But what happens the next morning when the storm is gone and the snow stops falling? Everything is covered in a beautiful blanket of snow. That’s the best time of winter! With so many fun ways to play in the fresh snow, the scary storm gets all forgotten. Sometimes there can be other things in your life that seem like a big storm. It’s normal to get scared, but it’s also a good time to remember Luke 8:23-24: “As they sailed, Jesus fell asleep. A storm came down on the lake. It was so bad that the boat was about to sink. They were in great danger. The disciples went and woke Jesus up. They said, ‘Master! Master! We’re going to drown!’ He got up and ordered the wind and the huge waves to stop. The storm quieted down. It was completely calm” (NIrV). Remember Jesus has power over every kind of storm in your life. And when He is done calming the storm, be ready for something wonderful … even better than the best kind of snow day.
