In Memory of Dr. Chuck Musfeldt…
Our close friend and long-time board member of Joni and Friends, Dr. Chuck Musfeldt, recently lost his life in a tragic automobile accident in San Antonio. Chuck was returning home from church after a deacon’s meeting when his car was struck by a city bus that failed to stop at a red light. Chuck and his wife Linda became involved with our ministry in the early 1990’s when they served on the local board of Joni and Friends Chicago – the Musfeldts were enthusiastic supporters, volunteering at Family Retreats and joining Wheels for the World trips. Chuck was invited in 1999 to serve on the Joni and Friends international board of directors where his firsthand experience with our programs, as well as business-expertise, quickly established him as a leader. Not only was Chuck a medical doctor, but his MBA proved invaluable as he worked with our leadership team to secure the fiscal structure of our ministry.
Most recently, Chuck became a tireless advocate of our Wounded Warrior Getaways and has helped lead the program in San Antonio. Chuck also served as international director for Bible Study Fellowship; he and Linda spent the last several years traveling the globe to encourage BSF leadership in small and great nations. He was actively involved in BSF and worked hard to give shape to the men’s program, here and abroad.
“Chuck was a great man of God who loved His Word, as well as the discipline of prayer. All of us at Joni and Friends are deeply saddened and will miss him dearly. We pray for God’s comfort to console Linda and her daughters,” said Joni Tada. Joni and Ken plan to attend the memorial service in San Antonio on March 19th; they will be joined by Doug Mazza, President of Joni and Friends, Billy Burnett, Executive Vice President, Lorraine Mazza, Managing Director of Development, and Greg Wood, chairman of the board, and his wife Candy.
