From the Heart – Wheels for the World
When I was in Africa, I saw a young woman with polio “crawling” across a street on her hands, dragging her paralyzed legs behind her. As I watched her weave her way across the busy road, I was breathless. What if a car doesn’t see her? How will her legs survive the constant battering? Doesn’t anyone care?
But then she came to our Wheels for the World outreach – tears welled in my eyes as she happily received a wheelchair, the Bible, plus a Joni book (just like this African girl in the photo). She also received Jesus as her Savior. Immediately, we were kindred spirits… true sisters in Christ. But the need is so great… there’s so many others like her!
It’s why I constantly pray, Lord, please keep using Wheels for the World to reach these precious disabled people! And He’s doing just that. When our Wheels teams lift people out of the dirt and fit them to a new wheelchair, it’s saying, you have dignity and worth in God’s eyes! Wheels for the World is one of the most powerful tools of evangelism ever conceived, and with your help, together we are reaching thousands that others pass by. You are giving the compassion of Christ to people like the young woman in that street. And my heart is filled with gratitude to God for you. Let’s keep it up, friend… let’s keep it up!
