Fireflies

Are you enjoying the kind of days that memories are made of? Maybe you don’t know what kind of days those are. Let me tell you. They are lazy, late afternoons licking popsicles on the back step while listening to a lawnmower up the street, and feeling a breeze cool your brow. Or running out the screen door after dinner to catch fireflies and hearing the door slam behind you. (Oops!) Or sitting by a campfire, hugging your knees, and watching the sparks fly upward, becoming stars. Moments like these “remind us” of some other time, some other place. Moments like these hint at the peace and joy we will experience forever in heaven. Heaven will be like choosing the happiest moment in your life and living in that moment forever. Can you imagine? Heaven is a little like having the best, longest summer ever. Now that’s something to look forward to!
