Kids’ Corner Contest Winner: Ages 12 and Up

Congratulations to our second winner in the Ages 12 and Up category, Taylor age 14. Read her story below about a time she helped someone and was surprised by how much she felt blessed through helping this person. 

“My name is Taylor, I am 14, and this last summer I met a new friend while playing on the Dream Team League. It is a team for special needs, for example someone with autism, cerebral palsy or any other disability. I have cerebral palsy and use a powered wheelchair to get around. I don’t have many friends outside of my family. That is why I am so happy I met Laura. She helped me by staying by my side while on the field. She helped by trying to give me a drink of water. In return I was able to be there for her and listen to her when she told me about her brother being killed while he was in the Army overseas. I felt blessed because she trusted me to tell me the news. She told me how old he was. I was surprised she shared it with me the first time we were texting. Our games are over and I miss being with her in person.”
