In 2016, Sarah was helping with a women’s Bible study for mothers with children affected by disability in Peru when her most memorable moment happened.
The gospel message was being explained, and Sarah had the chance to get up and sing “In Christ Alone” in Spanish. When she finished the song, another leader asked the women attending if they wanted to receive the gospel. All of them stood up and gave their lives to the Lord! Sarah said it was beautiful – there were lots of hugs and tears, and at the end of the retreat, the women gave their testimonies of how God had changed their lives because of International Family Retreat. One mother shared that she came to the retreat exhausted and worn out, but when she gave her life to Christ she realized that her two daughters affected by disability were a gift from God.
Sarah believes that this is what God has made her for. She loves seeing her different gifts and experiences come together on these retreats and delights in the powerful and rewarding ways God uses her. Sarah shared:
“Our gifts are given to us to share, not to hold but to give. When you give, God gives back to you 100 times over. It is an important part of God’s heart to be involved with people affected by disabilities. It is a gift serving people affected by disabilities, because you learn so much and you see God in different perspectives.”
Thank you, Sarah, for faithfully serving the Lord alongside us – we’re so thankful for you! If you’d like to send Sarah a note of appreciation, be sure to leave a comment below.
