Joni Eareckson Tada’s “The Practice of the Presence of Jesus” Earns Spot on the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s Bestsellers List 

AGOURA HILLS, CA – January 17, 2023:

Joni Eareckson Tada’s latest book, “The Practice of the Presence of Jesus,” has earned a top spot on the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association’s January bestsellers list. 

The first three months of sales have placed “The Practice of the Presence of Jesus” among the ECPA’s top 25 bestselling new releases in the U.S. Joni Eareckson Tada is joined on the list by authors including Lee Strobel, N.T. Wright, David Jeremiah and Jackie Hill Perry. The ECPA Bestseller lists are compiled monthly and are based on actual sales through various retail outlets nationwide. ECPA lists are based on sales of books through approximately 400 Christian retail stores nationwide.  

Released in October 2023, Eareckson Tada’s latest work is based on the timeless wisdom of seventeenth-century monk Brother Lawrence. Eareckson Tada weaves in her contemporary insights as she guides readers to discover the joy of intentionally dwelling in the presence of God. Brother Lawrence, who lived in a French monastery in the mid-1600s, wrote of finding God among everyday drudgeries while enduring during a turbulent era. Writing 400 years later, Eareckson Tada also speaks from a turbulent and chaotic era, sharing the lessons she has learned by living with the daily challenges of quadriplegia and chronic pain. 

Both Brother Lawrence and Joni Eareckson Tada demonstrate how, as we recognize God’s presence with us moment to moment, the mundane becomes holy and pain becomes filled with peace.  

Joni Eareckson Tada is the author and co-author of more than 60 books. Her first book, “Joni: an Unforgettable Story,” tells the story of how the Baltimore, Maryland native became paralyzed in a 1967 diving accident, and how her faith helped her overcome the depression that followed. The book, first published in 1976, sold five million copies and was translated into 38 languages.
