Tuesday, July 20th Update from Joni:

By the time you read this, Ken and I will be at the hospital for an MRI — unable to move because of quadriplegia, I can get a little claustrophobic in that big tube, so today, bless you for asking God to give me a quiet heart, a peaceful mind, and a fresh hymn to keep my spirits bright. Don’t you think “Be Still My Soul” is appropriate for being in an MRI?! And I love the words: “Be still my soul, the Lord is on thy side; bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; in every change, He faithful will remain. Be still my soul, thy best, thy heavenly friend, through thorny ways leads to a joyful end!”

I was able to be at Joni and Friends for a few hours yesterday, catching up on things and recording radio programs. I met with the leadership of Global Media Outreach, an on-line ministry of evangelism which, every day, sees hundreds of people visiting their website to express interest in learning about Jesus Christ. GMO is asking Joni and Friends to recruit “on-line missionaries” who will be trained to counsel those who respond to the salvation message and embrace Christ as Lord and Savior. Think of the thousands of disabled people who can serve the Lord from their homes as “on-line missionaries!” I get a lump in my throat just thinking about the possibilities!

In fact, I think I’ll spend at least some of that time in the MRI today praying that God will raise up an entire army of prayer warriors with disabilities who can advance the Gospel through JAF and GMO! Like the Lord says, the fields are white unto harvest… and people with disabilities can reap much for His kingdom. Onward and upward, friend, and bless you for praying!
