Monday, July 26th Update from Joni
C.H. Spurgeon once wrote, “The church is not as an association for mutual admiration and comfort; the church is an army gathered to be trained for war, marching to the fray to achieve victories for Christ, to storm the strongholds of the foe, and to add province after province to the Redeemer’s kingdom.” Now that’s an invigorating call to arms for us believers! And so today, as I go to the hospital for an out-patient procedure to prepare for chemotherapy next week, would you join me please in going before God’s Throne with these requests…
Ask God to…
- make Ken and me good ambassadors for Christ as we relate to doctors, technicians and nurses
- make our efforts to share the Gospel successful
- give me a special audience before the Throne as I pray on the behalf of others who are weak, disabled, or struggling with disease
- glorify the Father through this battle against cancer
- give me energy to tackle Joni and Friends’ responsibilities (you know how much I enjoy the ministry)!
- anoint our outreach at Joni and Friends — two more Family Retreats are underway this week; ask God to open the hearts of disabled children, adults and their family members to the Good News of Jesus Christ!
- two Wheels for the World teams are ministering this week — one in Romania, the other in Cameroon. With each wheelchair delivered and Bible distributed, ask the Lord Jesus to bring people to a saving knowledge of Himself!
- Finally, today marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act into law — please pray that God will open many more doors of access in our society to those with disabilities. I’ve attached an article I wrote about the ADA – it’s scheduled to appear on CNN.com main opinion page today, the 26th. View article.
It’s wonderful to lean on you, my brothers and sisters in Christ — thank you for joining me in prayer!
