Joyous Voices
Recently I was at my desk when I heard a happy chorus of voices coming from the chapel. I pushed away from my desk, interested to learn what all the music was about.
The chapel here in the International Disability Center is smack-dab in the middle of the building, and the acoustics in and around it are perfect for a chorus or two.
I came to find out that the singing was the work of “Joyous Voices,” a choir of young people with Down syndrome and other disabilities. They had come for a tour and treated us all to one hymn after another. They even were prepared with tuning forks so they could sing harmonies without accompaniment.
Afterward, I invited them up to my office where they sang one more song for me and then they posed for this picture, along with their teachers and parents. There’s nothing like songs of praise in the middle of the afternoon to brighten your spirit!
