A Brand-New Thing
There is nothing like the start of a New Year! The year stretches out unscathed and untouched.
True, 2019 holds cancer treatment for me (just like the year 2010), but I hold fast to the promise of God that his care for me will also be fresh and new.
Isaiah 43 says, “I am the Lord, who opened a way through the waters, making a path right through the sea. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses to lie beneath the waves. But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I’m going to do, for I am going to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun.”
This is the way I take Isaiah 43, God, the way you sustained me in my last cancer battle is nothing compared to your amazing grace for this new battle. And it’s so exciting that you’ve already begun!
And speaking of new things, there’s one change you might have already noticed: Joni and Friends is rolling out a new logo. The old one has been around for… well, just about forever. When I started Joni and Friends back in 1979, it made sense to start the logo with my signature. But in the last 40 years, so many changes have happened, and there are so many more people who make up the “and Friends” in our ministry. So… the logo makes a little less of my persona, and much more of the many precious friends – whether staff, prayer partners, donors, or volunteers – who provide the backbone to everything God does through our ministry!
And this year, in honor of our 40th anniversary, we’ve got a new look that helps reflect the breadth of our outreach. We’ll be sharing more about it in the weeks to come, but for now, let this new little design remind you that this year, God’s got new things in store for you, too!
