Thriving with Spinal Muscular Atrophy During COVID-19
“We have the hope of heaven, something bigger… so we don’t grieve and sit in fear. We refocus our hearts on God and what he has promised us.”
August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month! Today on the podcast Crystal is talking with her good friend, Tracey Motoda, about SMA and how this rare genetic disease impacts Tracey’s everyday life.
During these past few months of uncertainty, Joni and Friends has heard from many people with disabilities who are experiencing heightened fear and anxiety. With increased vulnerability to the effects of the virus, Tracey is sharing the emotions she has wrestled with while sheltering at home, but also the gratitude she has found as she has refocused on her heart on God’s promises. Listen as Tracey talks through how she has managed stress both physically and spiritually and the blessings she and her husband have found together in isolation.
