Wed., Jan 19th Update from Joni
Wednesday, January 19th Update from Joni:
Earlier today, a visitor asked me, “Are you a type A personality?” I can’t remember exactly what that means, but I know I love the mission God’s given me, and I’m invigorated by the work. I’m not so ‘into’ work, though, that I don’t carve out lots of time to just enjoy God’s blessings. Like the recent PET scan report. I’m still overflowing with joy; still celebrating in the style of Psalm 68:3, “But may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful.” Yep, that’s me. All those ‘happy’ words rolled into one. Unlike some, I’m not careful of the difference between joy and happiness (they say happiness is an emotion that depends on what ‘happens,’ whereas joy is the fruit of the Spirit and not affected by circumstances). But I don’t think God splits hairs like that. When it comes to happiness and joy, scripture uses the terms interchangeably along with words like delight, gladness and blessed. So I’m not thinking about which emotion I’m supposed to feel – I take it all as a gift from the happy hand of God (who is rich in all such glad emotions).
Be in prayer as our Wheels for the World teams, loaded down with wheelchairs and Bibles, get ready to head to Thailand and El Salvador soon. On Friday the 21st, I’ll be recording radio programs all day, so please pray I’ll have the breath and stamina to stay at the microphone till the work’s done. But don’t worry… I’ll be happy, glad, joyful when it is :-)!
