Almost through Exodus
If you are reading-through-the-Bible-in-a-year with Ken and me, then you know we are nearing the end of the book of Exodus (as you can see, Ken marks off each day’s reading). Last week it was all about the plagues of Egypt; last night as we read through God’s instructions about priestly garments, and before that, the altar, and the Holy of Holies, one theme kept resonating: God is utterly exacting about the way He is to be worshiped. For Old Testament believers it meant adhering to strict guidelines. For us, it’s just as exacting, but in a different way: we are to worship Him in spirit and in truth, with clean hands and a pure heart. Oh, made that be our goal every time we “bow the knee” to our Savior! If you have questions as you read along, write them down and look up the answers in a commentary when you’re done – and don’t forget to pray before you read, asking God to open your eyes to fresh insights. Onward and upward through the Pentateuch (the first five books of the Bible)… it’s great to know we are in this together!
