Sunday Reflections
Isn’t it amazing how we try to keep pace with the world? Yes, even Christians try to find any and every way to pack our schedules: we get up in the morning and quickly check our Facebook page; we take double shifts; we scan for emails on our smart phones while waiting at the check-out line; we take on extra responsibilities at church; and we turn on the TV for background noise. But wouldn’t it be nice to just unplug? Have a time of quiet? The Psalms are full of such reminders, “Be still and know that I am God” and “Wait for the Lord.” After all, when was the last time you savored a cup of coffee without your tablet in your hands? Or, when did you last enjoy a beautiful sunset not while sitting through traffic? Or a homemade meal without listening to CNN or Fox News in the background? Join me, will you, in taking time today to simply be still, to wait patiently, and to breathe in God’s peace. Inhale slowly and deeply; it’s Sunday, a day of rest… the Lord is waiting to pour His peace into those who are still before Him.
