Stay in Training

Joni riding a horse

Oh, how I used to love jumping my horse, Tumbleweed, in shows all summer! One season, we cleaned up blue ribbons at virtually all of the major shows in Maryland.   Tumbleweed was in top condition. But when I returned to school that fall, I put her out to pasture. After a month or so, I saddled her up for one more joy-ride before the snows came. After three fences, my horse was wheezing and lathered – completely out of training. It didn’t take long for Tumbleweed to lose her strength. And now, decades later, I think of my horse as we go deeper into this new year. Most of us start out gung-ho with our Bible reading plan, but a few weeks in, we’re skipping a day or two. After that, we’re too far behind to care anymore. Friend, if that’s you, I encourage you to stay the course with your Bible reading plan. The strength you will gain is worth it.

It’s not too late to join me in reading through the Bible chronologically this year! You can even sign up to receive my insights from our current passages straight to your email inbox!
