With great gladness, the Spirit-inspired prophet writes in Zephaniah 3:17, “The Lord your God is with you; He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you; He will quiet you with His love; He will rejoice over you with singing.” I love that last part: God rejoices over you; He sings over you! Picture it… right now, your Father is joyfully singing over you. There’s a beautiful intimacy when someone actually sings of their love and delight for another. Maybe you’ve seen it at a wedding, when the bride turns and sings to her groom? It’s even more precious when the recipient of that love responds in song – that’s how it is when we sing our praises back to God. We are mirroring back the love He has lavished on us.
Singing heartfelt worship to God is one of the most tender ways we can show Him how much we love Him. It’s why I am thrilled to be a part of the Getty Music Worship Conference, Sing! hosted by Keith and Kristyn Getty on September 18-20 in Nashville, Tennessee. Because there’s more to worship than music and lyrics; the Gettys want to equip worship leaders to understand why and how we can worship our Lord “in spirit and in truth,” and lead others to do the same. The conference is sold out, but free live stream is available. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to grow in your expression of love to our Savior through worship. Visit the Sing! web page for the plenary schedule and to sign up for the simulcast.
