Remembered by God

Zachary and SarahSarah couldn’t wait to meet her new baby brother! Her grandma said that Zachary’s name means remembered by God. When her grandma tried to explain that Zachary was born with a disability, Sarah didn’t really understand. What she did know was that she was finally a big sister and she was going to be a good one! Looking at the tiny fingers and toes, feeling his soft skin that smelled of baby powder, Sarah couldn’t wait to bring her brother home. But when Zachary finally came home she learned that babies take a lot of time and attention, especially if he has a disability. Mom didn’t have time to make cupcakes, and Dad always seemed ready to fall asleep. Sarah started to feel like no one was paying much attention to her. But do you think her parents loved her any less? Of course not! Are you an older sister or brother who sometimes feels a little forgotten? Lots of brothers and sisters feel this way at times. Joni and Friends tries to help with special events and activities planned just for you. Any time you feel forgotten, remember God is always there for you and even when your parents get busy, they love you just the same. And don’t forget it is okay for you to talk to your parents about your feelings. You can talk about it with us at Joni and Friends Kids’ Corner, too!
