Ready for Thanksgiving?
Are you ready for Thanksgiving? No, I’m not talking about whether or not you’ve ordered your turkey or have your house perfectly decorated with pumpkins, cornucopias and fall wreaths … I mean are you ready for giving thanks? Are words of thanks flowing from your heart? Ephesians 5:20 says that we should “always give thanks to God the father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” So how do we do this? Well, my husband Ken and I have developed this habit: as we drive to work each morning, we thank God for the day, for no more cancer, no broken bones, no heart disease, great friends, a country where we enjoy religious freedom, that we have meaningful work to do and home that is safe and comfortable … see what I mean? Today, give thanks to God for all things, from His mighty miracles to the small daily blessings. It’s the best way to cultivate a biblical attitude of gratitude in the spirit of Thanksgiving.
