Before Proceeding to Business
Five weeks into the Constitutional Convention, 81-year-old Benjamin Franklin wisely advised, “I have lived, sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth—that God governs the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? … I therefore beg leave to move that henceforth prayers imploring the assistance of Heaven… be held in this Assembly every morning before we proceed to business.” Like Benjamin Franklin, I too have realized the importance of prayer before “proceeding to business.”
At Joni and Friends, we start the day with prayer; and all meetings throughout the day begin with prayer, too. It’s why I always ask you to pray for me on radio recording days. There is so much at stake, but John 15:5 says, “If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” So would you join me in praying as we prepare to record radio tomorrow? Ask God to bless me with a good night’s sleep, to wake up with a clear voice, have full breath, energy, no pain, and that the Gospel message would go forth and bear much fruit. And as we begin our radio day, we’ll be thanking God for you — God bless you!
