Prayers for Trump
My friend, Chuck Garriott, and his wife Debby have a quiet but very significant outreach to lawmakers and foreign dignitaries in Washington DC. I’ve always been impressed how Chuck reaches out to everyone, no matter what their political leanings, cultural preferences, or religious or non-religious views. Chuck’s prayer is simply to make Christ known to all who cross his path in the corridors of power.
So I wasn’t surprised when I saw Chuck Garriott’s newest book, Prayers for Trump. (One of his earlier books was Obama Prayers). Using wisdom from the Old Testament book of Proverbs, Chuck makes the theological case for praying for Donald Trump, and guides readers in interceding over the president’s work, life and faith. “Christians may not get their political way. But they are expected to represent the gospel in every sphere of life. Thoughtful, intelligent and persistent prayer for our leaders is part of what it means for us to be salt and light in a needy world,” says my friend. “President Trump needs prayer… it is my desire that individuals, groups, congregations and even those in office, would use the book to pray independently and corporately for the 45th president of the United States, Donald Trump.”
It really is a remarkable little book, and a useful prayer guide in interceding for President Trump. And I must admit, I was quite honored to see Chuck dedicate the book to my friend, Steve Estes and me. You can find Prayers for Trump by Charles M. Garriott on Amazon or Ministry to State.
