Philippians and Ken

Ken and JoniI love the book of Philippians—especially where it says, “Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but to the interests of others.” That verse epitomizes my husband Ken. I am his wife—his disabled wife—and I have seen him time and again look out for my interests before his own. It’s not only that he gets up at 4 AM to turn me every night; it’s the little things—making certain I’ve got enough medical supplies in the cupboard, and going out of his way to keep my wheelchair clean. Ken Tada is one man who looks at the interests of others. And so, I encourage you, too, to think about the needs of someone near and dear in your life. Maybe, even a person with a disability, like me. It could be mean something as basic as dusting off their wheelchair, or as helpful as offering a ride to the doctor’s office. Whatever it is, you’ll by honoring God by thinking of others.

(Oh, and please leave Ken a note as he travels today to lead a “Wild Adventures” trip. Ken will be fishing with and ministering to a group of men — so pray that these men will be encouraged to lean on Jesus during hard times and serve their families with the love of Christ. I’m sure my dear husband will be bolstered by your prayers!)
