Albino Children
This past summer, a small team from Joni and Friends delivered eight pediatric wheelchairs to a facility in Tanzania which rescues children with disabilities from abandonment and witchcraft. ‘Mama Lynn,’ who runs the home, is especially protective of four albino children who live there (the rate of albinism in Tanzania is 15% higher than other countries). Why does she take such special pains to safeguard these girls? Because many albino adults and children are kidnapped and then amputated. Their limbs are then sold for a high price on the black market as ingredients in potions said to give the user wealth and good luck. It’s a sad story, but one that needs to be told – so take a moment and read this special article which describes the plight of Albino children in Tanzania, and what is being done to help these boys and girls!
