A 9/11 Prayer

World Trade Center MemorialEven though the horrific images of September 11, 2001 are far behind us, there are plenty of current images to remind us we are still in a fierce war against terrorism. Specifically, Islamic jihadists even more radical than Al Qaeda. These perpetrators of evil are a threat to peace and stability not only in the Middle East, but across the world. So please join me in praying today, “Father God, in these dark times we pray for Christians all over the world to live godly, righteous, and sober lives, knowing that our role is to represent You with excellence and integrity. As ambassadors of your Son, Jesus Christ, we rid ourselves of evil in our own hearts, as we pray against the evil we see spreading through radical Islam. May the plans of our adversary be foiled; made the schemes of wicked men be thwarted, and may peace – your peace – be preeminent. Strengthen your people against persecution, and make the Gospel successful through their witness. Finally, we pray for the peace of Jerusalem; that your kingdom come, and your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. In your Son’s Name, Amen.”

“Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will stand. I will crush the [enemy] in my land; on my mountains I will trample him down. His yoke will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.” This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all nations. For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back? – God speaking from Isaiah 14:24-27
