Let Down The Anchor
“I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, and in his word do I hope.”
Psalm 130:5
My friend Jessica has been languishing long in a hospital bed, waiting for test results, waiting for a prognosis and treatment plan and waiting to be given physical therapy. Not knowing the future – whether or not she will get better – Jessica is holding onto Psalm 130: “I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, and in his Word do I hope.”
But is there more that Jessica can do? J.B. Coffman said that there are times “when there is hardly anything to do except to cast anchor and wait for [the] day, filling the hours with prayer, even as Paul did.” According to J. B. Coffman, as well as the Apostle Paul in Acts right there, there is something Jessica can do. While she waits on the Lord, she can fill her hours with prayer – not little prayer, but abundant prayer. Daylight will come for her and for you, too, as you wait and pray much!
