Abdul Knows His House is a Gift from Jesus

Abdul lives in Uganda and was born with misaligned limbs and disfigured joints in his legs and hips. Only able put weight on parts of his feet, when Abdul walks, he feels like he is stepping on sharp nails.

“I am disabled. I have difficulty with my legs. They are painful. Whenever I am walking, I feel the hip bone dislocate itself. I feel the bone coming out and pain down to the joints,” says Abdul.

Despite his pain, Abdul works to support himself.

As he says: “I am a hardworking man. I cultivate food and also have cows and goats. I rear animals and that is how I get money.”

Though Abdul once managed to save some money, and even help support his sisters, his savings got stolen, leaving him no choice but to live in a makeshift tent.

God blessed Abdul through Joni’s House Uganda

When our Joni’s House Uganda team met Abdul, they heard his story and learned about his needs. In addition to helping him get medical treatment, the team constructed a proper, sturdy house for Abdul. Today Abdul works the land around his house, growing crops and keeping animals to feed himself and generate income.

While at first Abdul didn’t understand why anyone would care enough to build him a house, he now knows that his house is a gift from Jesus.

“It’s a miracle to own a house on my own land! I am full of joy! I’ve started going to church because God has done wonders for me. Because of my house, I have gained respect in my community. Joni’s House raised me up and changed my life!”
